Technical Training Services

The computer curriculum base provides competency and proficiency in basic computer operations, keyboarding, Microsoft Office Suites, e-mail management, researching the web, and web page design. Students will be able to prepare professional presentations with PowerPoint, Word and the Internet.

Homework Help &
Tutorial Assistance

W.R.AP. will assist each student during the summer and school year to prepare for testing and for subjects that they have found challenging. Tutoring, study skills training and instruction leading to secondary school completion, including dropout prevention will be provided.

Job Skills

W.R.A.P will provide a variety of workshops and classes designed to help youth prepare for the job market. These programs provide help with writing resumes and cover letters, conducting an effective job search, preparing for an interview, and effectively dealing with co-workers and employers on the job.

Life Skills

Proficient in tasks that are required in education, employment, and daily living. This includes balancing a checkbook, dress for success, hygiene, putting your best step forward, effective communication skills, marketing oneself in the workplace.

Pre-College Workshops

Applying for college can be an intimidating experience even for the most self-confident person. We will provide workshops and classes on how to find the right college, filling out applications and financial aid forms, writing an entrance essay, and preparing for the SATs. Field trips to area schools include Ramapo College, Rutgers, Passaic County Community College, William Paterson University and Katherine Gibbs Business College.

Community Computer Lab

Students will have access to our community computer lab, with 10 PCs available for their use during scheduled hours. All our computers are connected to the Internet. We offer computer classes such as Office Suite, web page design, email management and internet access.

Career Assistance

How to make the best of your experience, education, and career goals. Learn employability skills, research and organizational skills, and career opportunities based on your interest.

Each student will have an understanding of the area of employment and advanced education and personal goals they wish to pursue. Each student will possess a 3 year strategic plan and develop lists of tasks to meet their goals

Career Assessment tests on the web, guest speakers representing different careers, field trips to colleges and trade schools.

Counseling

One-on-one counseling as needed, as well as group workshops on stress management and anger management.

Enhancing ones self-esteem, coping with stress, and learning anger management skills.

W.R.A.P will interface with the local high schools, social service agencies, DYFS, boards of social services, Planned Parenthood, and churches to receive qualified referrals.

Mentoring

Adult volunteer mentors will meet with students on a weekly basis to mentor, guide and listen.
