this song is really … this song is really amazing, not many songs can almost get me to cry, this song is one of them. this is the reason why i love Aussie music because they are really story telling while singing. not many bands or singers do that
Finn is one of the … Finn is one of the most under-rated non-American songwriters in pop music history. IMO. Right up there with Difford and Tilbrook of Squeeze.
GREAT songs.
@dunskie Maybe you … @dunskie Maybe you should compare Bryan Adams resume with Crowded House….there is a distinct advantage here and it doesnt belong to Crowded House
Bryan Adams, … Bryan Adams, especially that song, is formulated pop ballad drivel shit. In my humble opinion.
I would not say that “crappy” is a ridiculous label for that one.
Man this song is … Man this song is awsome ! It brings me back to the “80’s when I was only a young boy growing up in Atlantic Canada , what a time to live in . I wish I could go back !!
@hankedful ” … @hankedful “Everything I do For You” had much more commercial success than this song. I am partial to “Better be Home Soon”…….but I think calling Bryan Adams crappy is ridiculous.
remake, meaning ” … remake, meaning “covers” of original songs. i don’t typically like the covers. and this one, in particular, was one i really disliked probably because it was covered by a female singer. it just didn’t work well, imo. but like i said, no offense meant, just my opinion.

I don’t understand your comment remake ? This song was written by Neil Finn and released by Crowded house in 1988. Cover versions by Kasey Chambers, Donny Osmond and The McCarters. I do understand when you hear a song many times over it can be off putting.
no offense meant … no offense meant here, but i cannot stand that version. i’ve heard it, over and over as it is played at the store where i work, and it just sucks, imo. but that’s just a personal opinion; i don’t like many remakes at all.
@ramadarose41 … @ramadarose41 Thanks for your reply, sorry about the profanity in my post, however, I still think E I D F Y, is still a horrible “song” grrrrrrr. You’re bang on with Crowded House though, yaaaa
i wouldn’t say that … i wouldn’t say that “Everything I do” is a crappy song, but it for sure ain’t “Better Be Home Soon”, and it sure as shouldn’t have beat out this song for song of the year. but as most know, Crowded House is a very sadly underrated band in the U.S. Neil Finn’s lyrics and vocals, and Nick and Paul’s harmony, drums and bass are never to be repeated by anyone. they are the end all, be all of musicianship, imnsho!
I loe CH. I could … I loe CH. I could listen to them all day and often do. I have had woodface in my car CD player for about a week now and I have a 26 mile commute.
To think, this … To think, this beautiful song was beat out for song of the year by the crappy song by Bryan Adams’ “Everything I do For You” 23 years later I still love this song, where the is “Everything I do for you?”
I have been playing … I have been playing and singing this song for a lot of years, but not quite this soulful, or this convincing….and l’m fkn good,( l suppose).
