My boyfriend is severely allergic to cats yet we have 3 in our house. My boyfriend takes medicine for it and so would my brother. Pets are like family members, we dont just get rid of them when they suddenly become an inconvenience. Please talk to you daughters doctor, i'm sure there's some way you can keep these cats. There are allergy shots that you can get once every few months to help with her allergies. There are tons and tons of cats in the shelter right now waiting for homes and kitten season is right around the corner meaning that people are going to be adopting cute little kittens, and not adult cats (its sad, but true). And.. a shelter will not guarantee that your cats will go to the same home, they'll probably split them up. Go through a shelter or Rescue service. They can email you an application to have potential adopters to fill out. You can put an ad in the paper or online but be aware how many cruel people will abuse, sell or use your cats as bait for fighting dogs. A shelter or rescue can help you find the right people.
