I am looking to build a custom bird house for my friend for a house warming gift (I know clever!). I want to have an exact match of the house. But i do not know what wood to use for the main of the house and the details?

spanish cedar by far if you cant find that and dont have the tools to mill it down then go to lowes or home depot and just get cedar. can be painted stained or just clear coated. cedar will hold up very well for years to come
