What are good sites to find foreclosed homes in my area?

Posted by admin on March 5th, 2010 and filed under homes | 3 Comments »

I am trying to find a website of foreclosed homes in my area. However, every time i go to a site it seems like you have to join a membership or pay a fee. I want a site that allows you a good listing of the location of the house, a photo of the house and any useful facts about the foreclosed home any ideas?
I will use a real estate agent however i would like to see the house in the picture and get a jist if its in a good neighborhood before i get proffessional help about it.

www.homesdatabase.com offers all home listings, but does include foreclosures. Be careful, because foreclosures can come with liens and many times are sold "as-is," which means there could be structural issues that you are not aware of.

How do funeral homes market their services?

Posted by admin on March 3rd, 2010 and filed under homes | 3 Comments »

I’m a writer and I’d like to target funeral homes for my writing services, but I’m unclear as to their marketing efforts. I know that a funeral home is often associated with a particular cemetery, and receives referrals from people who’ve purchased plots in that cemetery. I also know that funeral homes do a great deal of Yellow Pages advertising, and likely have Web sites.

Are there any other types of marketing communications they do? Do they send out flyers or direct mail? Thanks very much.

How many homes does an average home-buyer look at before deciding on one?

Posted by admin on March 1st, 2010 and filed under homes | 5 Comments »

For all the real estate agents out there: We are looking for our first home. I don’t want to annoy our real estate agent. How many homes does one normally look at? Like…20, or more like 100??

If you have an agent that understands you then it should be no more then 4-5. The agent will not waste everyones time on homes that are not going to be what you want.

If you are being unreasonable, wanting the million dollar home for 200k you could end up looking at 100. But, you will go though agents before that happens, they will know you are not serious right away and not waste their time and gas on you.

When they talk of heating oil for homes, where are the homes that use heating oil?

I live on the west coast (California) and I don’t know of anyone out here that uses oil to heat their homes. We use electricity and natural gas.

oil and propane are big in northern N.Y. heating oil is more or less kerosene or oil not quite as refined as kerosene

How much should my wife charge for cleaning peoples homes as a part time job?

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2010 and filed under homes | 2 Comments »

She is thinking of cleaning homes, only working 2-3 days per week and maybe 2 homes per day. Anyone know the average charge for cleaning a home? what about in the Tennesse area?

The cleaning lady our family uses charges a larger first time fee because it is usually really gross the first time and then after that she charges $10/hour for weekly visits, I live in Oklahoma so our wages are pretty low here, you might want to charge more depending on the economy in your state.

How many solar powered homes are in america and whats should we be seeing in the near future for solar houses?

How many solar powered homes are in america and whats should we be seeing in the near future for solar houses?

Until the cost of solar energy drops to the point where it is economically viable to choose it over power from the grid, solar power will remain unusual. The problem is that for solar power, you need to committ large amounts of money during the building phase. Tens of thousands of additional dollars, and space for expensive batteries that have a limited lifetime. What is truly needed is advances in battery technology. Unfortunately chemistry is fairly well understood, and there don’t seem to be any useful candidates for really efficient and cheap batteries.

As for numbers, the definition of solar is vague: there are active, passibe, and combination systems. And the degree to which house can supply power also varies quite a bit.

What can you do to stop or slow down building homes on 1 lot or half lots in established neighborhoods?

Posted by admin on February 21st, 2010 and filed under homes | 3 Comments »

My neighborhood is filled with older single family homes and now over night we have been swamped with new buildings. Three story shotgun style homes are being built on a single lot 25 feet wide a 100 feet long, And now we are seeing homes being built in the alleys in back yards with no frontage on a street. Its to unreal to imagine but realtors under cover of night brought out our city council and zoning boards what can we do?

Talk to others in your neighborhood, business owners, local banks, churches…

If you can show the zoning board that you are not alone with your views, that a few hundred other people think like you do, they will listen.

I had a similar problem, and I was surprise how even my local bank felt the same way I did. The local bank liked operating in a community and saw what was happening to be destroying the community. Other small business owners felt the same way.

It will require work.
